Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) recently inaugurated a new multidisciplinary Internal Medicine Day Hospitalisation Center, featuring 14 treatment stations and offering advanced medical services across multiple specialties.
Rambam’s recently opened Internal Medicine Day Hospitalisation Center provides ambulatory treatments for patients not requiring in-patient hospitalisation from the Department of Neurology, the Pain Management Institute, and the Liver Unit. Comprised of 14 treatment stations, it will also serve gastroenterology patients receiving advanced biological therapies in the near future.
Staffed by a dedicated nursing team
Staffed by a dedicated nursing team, the facility provides a full range of medical services ranging from medical supervision, infusions, and diagnostic procedures, to nursing care. These services will be available through two shifts, ensuring continuity of high-quality care and consistent clinical standards, similar to those maintained across Rambam’s internal medicine wards. The new facility also includes three dedicated isolation rooms, ensuring safe care and infection control for patients and staff alike.
Reducing pressure on inpatient departments
The Internal Medicine Day Hospitalisation Center represents a major strategic initiative aimed at improving patient services and reducing pressure on inpatient departments. Patients not requiring hospitalisation can now receive treatment during the day, freeing inpatient beds for those requiring continuous care.
The new center represents a new model in medical care, enabling a higher volume of biological treatments and improved availability, allowing patient to receive care in a centralized, state-of-the-art facility. By increasing treatment capacity, the center shortens waiting times, enhances service quality, and provides high-quality ambulatory care—without the need for full hospitalisation.
Reimagining patient care
The ambulatory model for medical care was first embraced by Rambam’s Neurology Department, led by Dr. Shahar Shelly. Recognising the opportunity to reimagine patient care, the team quickly established a dedicated Neurology Day Hospitalisation unit under the direction of Dr. Alla Shifrin. The unit now unites advanced services in neuroimmunology, neuromuscular disorders, cognitive neurology, and headache management—all under one roof.
Dr. Shelly explains, “Neurology is advancing rapidly, with innovative treatments and technologies now available to help patients who once had no therapeutic options. Through this new multidisciplinary center, our patients receive the same quality of care they would in the department—without the need for extended hospitalisation and while maintaining continuity of care.”
This evolution in healthcare reflects a broader institutional effort to transform how Rambam delivers internal medicine care—prioritising efficiency, accessibility, and the patient experience while ensuring that every individual receives the most advanced treatment possible.
