Earning a prestigious certification for quality healthcare and patient safety
Rambam Health Care Campus (Rambam) in Haifa, Israel, has achieved distinction following the rigorous assessment conducted by the Joint Commission International, earning a prestigious certification for quality healthcare and patient safety.
Last week, Rambam received official confirmation of its successful accreditation following a stringent assessment by the Joint Commission International (JCI), a highly-respected certification body for quality healthcare and patient safety. Only 1,000 top-tier hospitals worldwide are accredited by them.
The review and accreditation committee, comprising international experts, praised Rambam for its high safety standards and medical care, based on advanced protocols and impressive operational procedures. The hospital was commended for its excellence, which stood out from among others assessed by the JCI in recent years.
Meeting over 97% percent of 1,380 stringent parameters
“Over six days, some eight hours per day, five reviewers from different countries audited the hospital,” explains Dr. Fuad Basis, director of the Accreditation Project and deputy director of Medical and Research Development at Rambam. “The JCI is a prominent, international, medical center accreditation organization, and Rambam met over 97% percent of their approximately 1,380 stringent parameters—an impressive achievement.”
Israel’s Ministry of Health Government Hospitals Division supervised the audit. Before and during the assessment, Rambam leadership, doctors, nurses, administrative, paramedical, general, and housekeeping staff worked shoulder to shoulder to ensure success.
At the final briefing and presentation, South African Ms. Helge Springhorn, speaking on behalf of the JCI as head of the review team, shared: “In a cooperative, matter-of-fact, and transparent manner, Rambam demonstrated its seriousness and readiness to the entire review team, opening the hospital to a thorough inspection—it’s commendable.”

Each interaction prioritizes patient and caregiver safety through established protocols and guidelines that are the foundation for our commitment.”
Halberthal expresses pride in the hospital’s achievement and all those who made it possible. “It’s remarkable that we achieved this result after a challenging year marked by national turmoil, the demands of wartime, having to open the Fortified Underground Emergency Hospital, and operating under rocket fire for two months. I am honored to lead Rambam’s 6,500 dedicated hospital employees and the fact that our teams successfully passed an external audit conducted by the JCI under these circumstances speak volumes about all Rambam stands for and their dedication and resilience.”
